Delight at big crowd

LEOPARDS second home game at the Basildon Sporting Village proved to be a roaring success, both on and off the court.

A crowd around 300 watched the Big Cats beat Leeds Carnegie.

And that delighted Leopards director Gareth Roberts.

“It was great to see so many people at the game” said Roberts.

“We’ve worked really hard to promote the club in the Basildon area and the snow coming down just before our last game was a real disappointment.

“So it was good to see such a large crowd on Sunday, and hopefully we can build on that.”

Youngsters from Wickford Knights Basketball Club got the chance to play on the court before the main game and then stayed on to cheer the Leopards to victory.

The Big Cats return to Basildon this Sunday when Bradford Dragons are the visitors, tip-off 4pm. A victory would see Leopards move up to fifth place in the EBL table as they look to close in on home court advantage in the play-offs.

Tickets are available on the door at Basildon, priced £5 for adults, £3 for children and £13 for a family of two adults and two children.
